COACHING/LEARNING METHODOLOGIES

SOAR Uses Six Primary Methods To Address Various Learning Styles

  • Readings from the humanities and business, sources of leadership wisdom from history and literature, including excerpts from contemporary writings, speeches and biographies.
  • Dialogue-based learning which emphasizes questioning, exploring and clarifying leadership issues, concepts and assumptions.
  • Use of experiential exercises constructed to give participants the time and space to reflect on their own leadership behavior and their lessons learned.
  • Film study which provides an excellent opportunity to focus on and examine the specific leadership skill(s) featured in a movie.
  • Shared analysis with their peers and coach which encourages participants to master not only the facts of a particular text, but also to interpret and evaluate it, and make larger leadership connections among the readings, exercises and films.
  • Tool(s) which provide the participants a practical “take away” which they can use with their peers, direct reports, and supervisors at work to disseminate particular leadership understandings, insights and practices.
